Obamanation Day 168

The news today ...

Michael Jackson is dead, and has been for several days, but the media is eating it up. So is the Administration ... it gives them yet another distraction from their agenda. The entire planet waits breathless, watching the circus of his memorial services. It is sad. Not sad as in "Oh, my god, he's gone! How will we go on without him," but sad in a tragic sort of way.

Jackson was a sad, sick little man. His life was a Grimm's tale, sweetness and light at the start, dark and dismal at the end. Yes, he had a major influence on the music industry (years ago), but he destroyed all of that with his freakish lifestyle. Yes, he probably did have a rough childhood. Yes, he was a product of his upbringing. Yes to all of those sad things that made him what he was.

Yes.

He was also an adult, capable of facing his demons and overcoming them. Lots of people have beaten their demons.

I think that Jackson's positive influences were used up long ago. He was a great entertainer, but his former 'greatness' was heavily overshadowed by his recent strangeness and perversity.

Is this really what we should be looking at, today?

Shouldn't we be looking at Honduras? Venezuela? Iran and Iraq? North Korea? Russia, even? Are we letting the immediate satisfaction of other people's problems blind us to our own? We need to get our priorities straight before the energy tax legislation comes back up, or the health care bill gets pushed through without a fight.

The President will be continuing with his destructive agenda regardless of which pop-tart is in treatment, or why Brangelina is having marital issues.

You can bet that Mr Obama is not giving much attention to the trivial matters of Hollywood, other than to use it to his advantage.

Neither should we.

Let Michael Jackson rest, people. Let his family rest and grieve. Get your eyes on the ball or we will lose everything but the freedom to watch the Rich-and-Famous on T.V.

Who I am

A little more about myself.

I am clearly not trying to hide who I am or how I feel about this world we live in called America. My name is not on my blog, but a little bit of sleuth-work and just about anyone can figure out who just about anybody else is. There are legally licensed websites that, for a fee, will tell you a lot more than anyone really needs to know about someone else (unless you're family).

If I make a statement or take a stand on something, I try to be as knowledgable as possible on the subject. I'm sure there are things I don't know that might affect my stance, but if I don't know them, I don't know them. That's a fact.

Speaking of "facts," I'll tell you about "facts." When I know enough about a subject that I believe that I can form an opinion, I will do so. These opinions are based on everything I know and feel about a subject. There is no such thing as an un-biased opinion. If they weren't biased, they wouldn't be opinions, they'd be facts. To me, a fact is something that is, at least, verifiable in some degree. Some might call it ostensible. I disagree. Whatever. I believe them to be facts. I will do my best to make sure the're true (truth is a whole different concept that takes too long to type in a little blog like mine).

Philosophically, I tend conservative. Not complete, mind you, but a definite tendency. There are a whole bunch of different things mixed in there. Religion, for example. I don't do religion like almost everyone else. I have my own way, and that, my friends, is one of the reasons I love this country. I don't care what your religion is or even if you have one. Please, return the courtesy.

I live in Texas. I choose to. I feel relatively safe where I am. I keep my eyes open, though. I have a family to protect. I fully support the Castle Doctrine, whis is a state law in Texas, so Don't Tread On Me. I will not Tread On You, you have my Word.

Have I ever broken my Word? I must admit that, yes, I have broken my Word. There was a crossroads where keeping my promise would do much more damage than breaking it. It was a moral dilemma. I made a decision, and it was the right one. It still is, but I regret that it came to that. I have learned to live with it, and to be careful where I give my Word.

That's not me-in-a-nutshell, but is a small part of who I am. More later, if you want.

What are we facing?

Do we, as Americans, know what we are facing?

Are any of us aware of what lies ahead for the Land of the Free?

So many believe that brighter days are ahead, that the Lord President, Messiah and Prophet, has a Plan (of which we cannot know, being only humans) that will bring Sunshine and Showers of Gold to all the people of America.

What President Obama plans is the destruction of the American Way. The blurring, melting, blending of the middle and lower classes into one huge mass of people on the Dole. People unable to escape depths of poverty, relying on a shrinking American economy to pay the bills, while completely eroding all avenues of personal ambition or betterment.

Our cities will be sunk in poverty, while the Rich Elite live in the comfort of their estates, protected by political rank or inherited position.
Allow the Administration to continue unobstructed, and the future America faces is bleak.
Rich, or working poor.

There will be no other class.

What will we do ...

What will we do, now that the world is Changing.

Changing?

Yes, Changing (note the capital "C").

President Obama is making good on his promise. Congress is making it happen, and We, the people (note the lower case "p"), are powerless to stop it.

This is the Change, and all we are left with is the Hope.

What is the Hope?

You'll know. You may be experiencing it already. It's that last glimmer you feel before the bottom drops out, and the world finally, fundamentally ... Changes.

Yet, there may be something we can do ... nope, I was wrong ... the people just don't matter anymore.

I haven't met one person, not one person, that feels right about this situation. Even the Democrats I know ( a couple, anyway) aren't real comfortable right now. They're ... not as sure of themselves when they say "You'll see," and laugh a little.

They know they're still lower case d's. They're just the worker bees in the american hive.

Everyone else I know is as apprehensive as I am, or more, because they are on a list somewhere, one with the start-dates of their employment.

I'm on that list, too.

Ouch. Got a little serious there for a second. I can't help it, I'm a little worried.

The "Stimulus" bill is just the tip of the iceberg. It was a test.

A live-fire exercise, if you will.

It was a test to determine if they truly, truly held the keys to the vault. The secondary objective was to gauge the personal power that the President was able to wield in times of crisis. It'll settle down now, for a little while, as america sits and waits for this plan to work.

It gives them the time they need to formulate the real plan. The hostile corporate takeover of the United States of America. And we've been left out-of-the-loop.

As far as I can tell, a large percentage of the american population is against this bill. I know that the voting population of the town where I live is generally, perhaps even overwhelmingly, against it.

Not that it matters, because we didn't get a say.

They decided.

They didn't ask, they didn't give us a chance to look at it, they didn't even let the rest of the congressional population get a decent look at it.

As I sit here, there are about 45 minutes until the Senator from Ohio, Sherrod Brown arrives to cast his vote.

...

Well, how about that. Looks like it's a Law. Welcome to america.

Hope I have a job tomorrow.

06 November 2008

It is only the beginning ...

Obamanation, Day 2 ...

Can you smell the fear? It's pervasive. It's clingy and sticky. It's everywhere.

I live in West Texas. Our economy has been booming, despite the hell the rest of the country is going through. Drilling gas wells and oil wells has kept our cost of living high, but the pay is good. I have sat and counted myself lucky that we, for the moment, have been spared. Even up to the presidential election, the feeling around here has been guardedly positive.

Today, out of the blue, a company that employs more than 400 people, and makes materials that are in demand everywhere on the planet, announced its closure. By the end of the first quarter of 2009, the Flint Hills plant, in Odessa, Texas, will be no more.

I work for a small company that provides critical parts and supplies for the Flint Hills plant. They are one of our biggest local accounts. There are many, many little companies that support places like Flint Hills and other plants in the area. Most of them aren't 'corporations.' They don't have the tax shelters and high-dollar accountants, but they are vital to our little piece if the United States.

Every. Single. One.

It was completely unexpected.

Maybe ...

Today is Day 2 of the Obama-nation. Take it however you like.

Okay, let's get something out of the way, first. There are people that are died-in-the-wool racists. I'm not one of them. I do not care what color, size, shape, sexual preference, attractiveness level or brand of cigarette a person smokes (or even if they smoke at all). Hell, I don't even care what they smoke. They live their lives, just like I live mine. Their choices are theirs.

I don't care if Obama is black.

I.

Don't.

Care.

Everyone I know. Everyone! Is scared to death of what that man may do. He has a monster machine at his right hand. The Triumvirate. Obama, Pelosi, and Reid. Add to that the likelihood that Obama will get to name at least two Supreme Court justices. The math is frightening. With enough power, I think this man will try to rewrite the Constitution. I hope I am wrong, but I'm not.

Back to the point. Every single customer I saw today was ... well ... scared.

Small businesses in my part of the country are getting ready to batten down their hatches, or cap their wells, or whatever ... you choose your metaphor.

They're worried and scared and anxious.

Their taxes are going to skyrocket.

Many of them are over the artificial 'cap' that has been placed. Two Hundred Fifty Thousand dollars (using the most generous of the arbitrary 'wealth' meters).

A sole-proprietorship or partnership or family business might pull in that kind of income, but most of that is reinvested in the business, to grow it and nurture it, bringing prosperity and jobs to the surrounding community.

Soon all that will change. The cutbacks and layoffs will soon begin. Oil companies will stop exploring. Drilling companies will stack their drilling rigs, one-by-one, then in groups. Total shutdown of the 'Oilfield' industry has been know to take less than three months.

Our economy, which directly and indirectly, relies on the oilfield to function.

But, there are a few places that don't rely on the oilfield to be prosperous, because their products aren't completely oilfield related.

Like the Flint Hills plant.

The point is, Mr. Obama isn't even in office yet, and his plans for redistribution of wealth, tax and spend, and socialist agenda are already starting to have their effects. His 'wealth' meter fits almost every successful small business in this country, which will force them to do what is necessary to survive. Cutting costs and lay-off of employees is the result. Jobs will be scarce and any worker can be replaced because people need jobs, and will take less pay, rather than no pay at all.

Like I said, Obamanation, Day 2.
